An update of the 2012 Iowa County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan was submitted to Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on September 13th, 2017. WEM and FEMA determined that the draft plan meets the requirements of the Federal Hazard Mitigation Plan on September 29th, 2017. The draft plan was approved by the County Board on October 17th and is currently being adopted by each City, Village, and Town in Iowa County, in accordance with WEM and FEMA guidelines. The plan identifies and prioritizes hazard risks in Iowa County, then develops mitigation strategies that will inform public investments, increase public awareness, and provide better protection of life and property. In addition, the plan allows those communities affected by the natural and man-made disasters the opportunity to access to federal relief funds and resources.
